About Jonata Springs Ranch

Jonata Springs Ranch is a private, gated equestrian community situated in the Purisima Hills of California's Santa Ynez Valley, approximately one mile northwest of Buellton. Its rolling hills, spacious properties, and extensive bridle trails offer residents the privacy and tranquility of country living, with the conveniences of nearby towns only minutes away.

The Ranch encompasses more than 800 acres divided into 44 parcels of twenty acres or more. Situated between the coastal hills and the San Rafael Mountains of Los Padres National Forest, it lies approximately fifteen miles from the Pacific Ocean. Many properties are dotted with native oak trees and command expansive views of the surrounding hills, valleys, and mountains.

One of the Ranch's most distinctive features is its network of 10.5 miles of developed bridle trails. These provide opportunities for horseback riding, walking, and enjoying the surrounding countryside. The community also has paved roads and its own water company, Bobcat Springs Mutual Water Company.

Wildlife at Jonata Springs Ranch

The Ranch takes its name from several year-round springs that provide water for native wildlife. Red-tailed Hawks, Barn Owls, Meadowlarks, Acorn Woodpeckers, Bobcats, Coyotes, Foxes, Mountain Lions, and Pacific Black-tailed Deer are among the many species found here. More than fifty species of birds have been recorded at the Ranch, reflecting the rich birdlife of the Santa Ynez Valley. Santa Barbara is consistently among the leading locations in the nation’s annual Christmas Bird Count. In the 2024–2025 count, observers recorded 214 species, ranking the Santa Barbara count circle fourth nationally. This remarkable diversity reflects the region’s varied habitats, ranging from coastal waters and wetlands through grasslands and oak woodlands to the mountains of Los Padres National Forest.

The Santa Ynez Valley enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with warm, dry summers and generally mild winters. Buellton is only minutes away, while the nearby communities of Solvang, Santa Ynez, Los Olivos, Ballard, and Los Alamos offer restaurants, shops, and other amenities. Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and San Luis Obispo are also within convenient driving distance.
